This is one of the most famous quotes in American
history.
Why? Because it deals with ownership and personal
accountability. Too often we focus on "Why"
"When and "Who" which have a tendency to
point fingers and create a negative atmosphere.
Instead, by truly listening to what is being said
verbally and non verbally, and by focusing on the
"how and what" and adding the "I",
you help diffuse difficult situations and portray an
interested and helpful attitude with the intention of
solving the problem.
Excerpts from:
THE "HOW" EFFECT - by Marla Skibbins, MCC,
CPCC (excerpts below) and QBQ! - by John. G. Miller
Webster defines the word "How" as "In
what manner or way".
Using the word "How" sets up the mind to
interact with what you want to achieve. This is very
positive and goal oriented.
Limiting thinking is wondering, "Can I be a
successful" or thinking "I can't
accomplish xyz." This is restrictive with doubt as
the main focus.

ACTION even when it leads to mistakes, brings
learning and growth.
INACTION brings stagnation and atrophy.
ACTION leads us toward solutions.
INACTION at best does nothing and holds us in the
past.
ACTION requires courage.
